Christmas movie shoot heading back to Smiths Falls

By Victoria Williston

Residents of Smiths Falls may be in for a shock this week when they're outside enjoying the nice spring weather and come upon a snowbank or two.

Fake snow will be scattered around town for a holiday movie shoot that's taking place at the Railway Museum of Eastern Ontario.

City officials say two shoots will happen this week in Smiths Falls, and that COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place.

The movie is set to feature the museum's steam locomotive #1112 and the Canadian Northern Railway Station — a national historic site.

Museum board president Tony Humphrey says the economic benefit to the museum and the Town of Smiths Falls is the “most welcome addition at this time.”

Following the success of last fall's movie, “The Christmas Setup,”  the same production company is back to film another holiday movie.

On Friday, the crew was at Camp Fortune for day one of filming. No other details about the movie have been released at this time.
