Rypien faces the media

VANCOUVER(NEWS1130) – Vancouver Canucks forward Rick Rypien spoke to the media today for the first time since grabbing the sweater of a fan in Minnesota last Tuesday night. He was suspended by the NHL for six games.

Rypien apologized to the league and his teammates for his actions but did not apologize to the fan, James Engquist, who has since threatened legal action. Rypien says he takes full responsibility for his actions and would take the moment back if he could. He stressed it was out of character.

Rypien is eligible to return from his suspension for a home game against Detroit Saturday November 6. The Canucks host the Colorado Avalanche Tuesday night.
