Brigadier-General Daniel Menard quits Military

A general facing court martial over an alleged sexual affair while commanding Canadian forces in Afghanistan has resigned from the military, ending a 26-year career.

A Department of Defence spokesman says Brigadier-General Daniel Menard decided to quit for personal reasons — saying he wants to focus on his family.

No date has been set for Menard’s court martial.

He’s facing charges related to the alleged affair with a subordinate, and allegations he tried to persuade the woman to change her story.
