New deal for PSAC

Canada’s largest public service union has narrowly endorsed a new contract that will get rid of severance pay for employees who quit or retire.
The deal with the public service alliance of Canada gave employees a five point three per cent raise over three years.
The contract also eliminated severance pay for bureaucrats who voluntarily leave their jobs.
All votes took place by secret ballot with 52 per cent of the membership voting in favour of the new deal.
In a statement Wednesday national president of PSAC John Gordon, told members that they must work together to send a clear message to the Harper Government that public services and the workers that provide them are essential to Canada’s future.
