Federal stimulus projects deadline extended

The federal government is extending the deadline for infrastructure projects by 7 months. This extension will enable several projects to be completed under the plan.

Several municipalities were concerned they wouldn’t meet the completion date for their projects by the March 31, 2011 deadline.

The Ottawa Citizen says it will mean $8 million worth of projects that wouldn’t be completed by that deadline will now be finished.

That includes the Ottawa Humane Society building on Hunt Club which received $3.6 million from the federal government.

Weather delays put that project in jeopardy until the extension was announced.
