Autopsy results conclude Rankin died by drowning

CHARLOTTETOWN – Autopsy results conclude that 38-year-old Ottawa resident Trevor Rankin died by drowning.

The Ottawa man whose body was found in the Charlottetown Harbour died by drowning.  those were the autopsy results on the body of 38 year old Trevor Rankin.

Charlottetown Police say it appears Rankin’s drowning was a tragic accident with alcohol being a contributing factor.

Police divers found the body submerged in the Charlottetown Harbour Wednesday afternoon several metres behind the apartment complex where Rankin’s mother lives. 

He was in the PEI capital visiting relatives for Christmas.  Funeral services will be held for Rankin Monday in Charlottetown.
