Fiery crash closes 401 near Quebec border

Two tractor-trailers collided early Wednesday, causing a crash that resulted in the closure of the westbound 401.

It happened around 1:30 a.m., near the Ontario-Quebec border.

Police say one rig was trying to get on the highway when it was rear-ended by a second tractor-trailer. Both trucks caught fire.

The heat from the flames was so intense, it damaged part of the pavement.

Crews were still working Wednesday night to repair the highway so the westbound lanes could be re-opened.
