A large fire has ripped through two multi-unit buildings containing five apartments in downtown Hull.
The fire, on rue Leduc, started around 1 p.m., Friday. Mark Greenaway lives across the street and says he broke down the door of one of the houses to make sure everyone was out, but he ended up rescuing a trapped dog.
“They had their dog locked up in a cage, so I grabbed the cage and the dog — a big German Sheppard,” he told 1310News. “I ripped the…door off the cage, let the dog out, kicked the dog out the front door, then I ran to the second house.”
No one was hurt in the fire.
Hydro was cut to a number of homes around the fire scene as a precaution.
Firefighters from Ottawa and Gatineau were called in to fight the fire.
Both buildings will now have to be demolished.
