Ottawa Public Health issues frostbite alert

Bundle up as you head out Thursday morning.

It’s a chilly day and the city is currently under a frostbite alert.

Ottawa Public Health issues frostbite alerts whenever the forecast calls for a wind chill of minus -25 or colder.

Ottawa Public Health says at -15 C, hypothermia becomes an increasing concern and when the wind chill reaches -35 or colder, exposed skin can freeze in as little as 10 minutes. Over-exposure to cold temperatures can result in severe injury and even death.
