Ottawa Police cleared in cell block cases

The OPP said it has wrapped up five of six investigations into allegations that Ottawa Police officers used inappropriate force in the Ottawa Police Service cell block.
No criminal charges will be laid. One case remains under investigation.
Inspector Dave Ross said that final case was only referred to them March 15 and the investigations do take time.
He said the investigations do not look into whether the use of force was appropriate but only whether there was criminal action by the officers.
The investigation, led by Detective Inspector Martin Graham of the Criminal Investigation Branch, found no criminal activity.
Ross said the report has been given to the Ottawa Police and all further action is now in the hands of the local service.
