Latest poll shows Layton, Ignatieff tied for second

It seems like a winner in the leaders’ debates has been revealed.
While no knock-out punches were delivered during the debates last week, New Democrat leader Jack Layton has seen the biggest spike in support for him and his party.
The latest Angus Reid survey finds the Liberals and NDP tied in second spot – a four point jump for Layton from last week.
He appeared to be the most comfortable in front of the camera and laser-fast with his wit during the two debates.
And Layton’s star continues to rise with Canadians because of the Grits and Tories both losing a couple of points according to the latest Angus Reid survey.
The Tories still lead with 36 per cent, while the Liberals and NDP are neck and neck at 25 per cent.
The four point increase is also reflected in the latest Leger survey. To many, Layton’s folksy charm is having more people taking a look like yesterday when a toddler took the spotlight at a campaign stop in Nova Scotia.
The concern for the NDP is their support is still the softest of all the parties and with two weeks to go, those votes could end up Liberal like they did almost three years ago.
Both the Conservative and the Liberal election campaigns travel to Yellowknife today in a pitch for northern votes.
Known as the city of dreams and opportunity — Stephen Harper and Michael Ignatieff will be selling ideas to the residents of the Northwest Territories.
Harper then heads to Thunder Bay to meet with Western Arctic candidate Sandy Lee.
Harper says his government has done much for Arctic sovereignty, housing and the environment.
