National Day of Mourning

Today is the national day of mourning for those killed on the job.  Flags will be at half mast  at city buildings as well as others throughout the day with a ceremony planned for Vincent Massey Park.

The popular gathering spot is also the site of the worst  tragedy on the job in Ottawa’s history when a bridge collapse in the 1966  killed 9 workers and injured 50.

The ceremony begins at 12:30 this afternoon.
