CN Cycle for CHEO raises nearly $600,000

The CN Cycle for CHEO was held Sunday, raising nearly $600,000 for kids with cancer in the oncology unit at CHEO. The races, ranging from 2 to 70 km, meant several road closures throughout the morning.
Following the races there was a children’s carnival on the Lebreton Flats. The event has drawn over 2,000 participants to the Lebreton Flats. Organizer Anne Marie Lever said they expected more money to come in throughout the day.
Adam and Katherine are racing today and together raised over $200. They each have a similar goal.
“Beating my sister,” said Adam.
“Beating my brother,” said Katherine.
The Faccin family got together to form Team Ryan in support of their son and brother who’s in the oncology unit. Ryan is part of the Dream Team, a group of ambassadors for CHEO who have raised over $44,000.
“I just want to support my team, you know, I feel ready,” Ryan said before riding in the 15km event.
“I just want to do this.”
His mom Roseanne Faccin tells me the whole family was riding to support Ryan.
Daniel told 1310News he’s cycling to support his brother who is also in the oncology unit at CHEO.
They’re joined by hundreds of others for whom the cause hits close to home.
