Fines of $10,000 are going to be dropped on car washes that stay open during the outdoor water ban that is in effect for Barrhaven, Manotick and Riverside South.
It’s leaving car wash owners feeling the pinch.
But there is one car wash in Manotick that will definitely be staying open this summer.
But its not what you might think. Because the Car Wash on Manotick Main Street runs on well water the owner, Ian Hawkins, is not subject to the ban.
He said he hopes he’ll have a lot of business once people start to feel the effects of the water ban.
Meanwhile other car washes are following the ban and the MacEwan’s gas station car wash in Riverside South is already closed forcing some people to get refunds.
Yolanna said she will have to find another way to clean her car.
“I guess I’ll have to put it outside in the rain or go to another car wash in another part of the city,” she said.
And she said she thinks it’s fair that car washes should shut down since everyone else is facing restrictions.
She said she thinks the City could have better handled the announcement of the ban and how it was relayed to residents.
“I think they didn’t plan it properly,” she said. “I think they, as everybody said, they just came right away, people couldn’t plan.”
She added that the City needed to communicate better.
