Severe thunderstorm warning issued for Ottawa area

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for the following areas:

Ottawa
Gatineau
Prescott and Russell
Renfrew
Arnprior
Calabogie

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for the Ottawa River valley.

Within the next hour we are expecting possible large hail up to 4 cm in diameter and wind gusts of up to 90 km/h as well as heavy downpours.

A few more storms developing just north of Gatineau will move south over the next hour and are expected to remain severe as they cross the regions.

Environment Canada says people around the area should keep a lookout for stormy weather and take necessary safety precautions.
