The Victoria Day long weekend traditionally kicks off the summer driving season and the OPP say they’ll be out in force.
They say all available resources will be on patrol for this weekend to ensure highways, trails and waterways are safe.
Police say they’ll be targeting aggressive drivers, impaired drivers and boaters, those not wearing seatbelts, unsafe vehicles and distracted drivers.
And if fireworks are part of your Victoria Day celebrations, officials are stressing the importance of safety precautions.
Toronto Fire Chief William Stewart says fireworks should always be kept a safe distance from combustible materials, including buildings and trees.
Fire officials, however, say they’d prefer families visit a public display rather than putting on their own fireworks show.
