Thieves swipe Canucks jerseys from landmark lions

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – If you drive across the Lions Gate Bridge, you may notice the big concrete felines are a little less colourful these days. Their Vancouver Canucks jerseys have disappeared.
The regal cats at the south end of the bridge had been decked out in Canucks green, blue, and white for awhile. But David Zerr with Mainroad — the company which maintains the bridge — says they noticed the shirts were missing on Tuesday.
He tells us they have cameras nearby to help work the counter-flow lane. “Unfortunately, the cameras do not record what they observe. The workers that we have on the bridge do look at the cameras but we didn’t see anything.”
Zerr says the cats were first fitted with jerseys during the Olympics by an anonymous person. He’s hoping whoever took the cats’ Canucks gear will return it.

Ian Moore thought he was buying a big roll of vinyl fabric from a guy in Pigeon Park. It turns out, it was a massive Canucks banner that should have been hanging outside Rogers Arena!
Moore tells the Province newspaper he’s returning it to the Canucks, even though he’s a Toronto Maple Leafs fan.
