An Ottawa man is facing three years behind bars for a bizarre car-jacking incident earlier this year.
On Feb. 8, Jeffrey Parsons pulled a knife on security at the Winners store on St. Laurent Boulevard when he was spotted shoplifting some running shoes.
In his escape, he hopped on an OC Transpo bus, but had to flee through the window when it wouldn’t move.
Parsons then attempted to hijack two other vehicles before he forced his way into a third car with a man and a young child in the backseat.
Police arrested him in a residential neighbourhood a short time later.
He pleaded guilty to theft, assault with a weapon and forcible confinement.
Parsons’ mother addressed the court after the sentence to say her son has had a problem with drugs since his teens.
