Heat wave hits two dozen American states

A heat alert is in effect for almost two dozen American states from Texas to Connecticut, and into the deep south.
For 14 straight days, Oklahoma City has surpassed 38 celsius.
Although Newark, New Jersey and Washington, D,C., got up to 36 degrees Tuesday, the humidex was 43.
The blistering heat is worsening the drought gripping more than a dozen states from Florida to Arizona.
Meantime, although we are experiencing a bit of relief Wednesday from the humidity, Environment Canada says hot, muggy weather could mean heat warnings for the capital this weekend.
High humidex values are expected to arrive Sunday and carry into Monday.
Environment Canada issues humidex advisories are issued when the value is forecasted to reach 40, on average Ottawa sees about two days a year like this.
The capital already passed this on June 8th when it hit 42.
