Mubarak stable after suffering a stroke and brief coma

Hosni Mubarak’s condition has stabilized after the former Egyptian President suffered a stroke and temporarily slipped into a coma all just days before he is supposed to stand trial.
The story broke after Mubarak’s wife called their lawyer, Farid El Deeb, and told him the former Egyptian President had suffered a stroke and slipped into a coma. Deeb then alerted Egyptian state media.
A few hours later Mubarak’s condition stabilized.
Mubarak is scheduled to stand trial next month to face allegations he ordered the killing of protestors during the eighteen days of protests in January and February, which led to his resignation. If convicted, Mubarak could face the death penalty.
Al Jazeera’s Imen Muhadeen reports Mubarak has had numerous health problems since leaving office, but many opposition supporters are sceptical about the reports his health is deteriorating and accuse the military of trying to prevent his trial which starts August 3rd.
Mubarak was sent to hospital after experiencing heart palpitations in April, and he has been fighting complications from stomach cancer, his attorney said in June.
Mubarak had been president for almost 30 years.
Mubarak stepped down as Egyptian president on February 11th.
