Lawyers for ex-I-M-F boss Dominique Strauss-Kahn are blasting back after the first public comments from a hotel maid accusing him of sexual assault.
Strauss-Kahn’s lawyers say Nafissatou Diallo is looking for money and call hers interviews “an unseemly circus” to inflame public opinion. Diallo told Newsweek in a story posted online yesterday that she wants Strauss-Kahn to go to jail. ABC News says it will broadcast an interview with her on three of its programs today. In the interviews, she gives new details about the alleged attack in a Midtown hotel room.
The case against Strauss-Kahn is in limbo after prosecutors raised doubts about the maid’s credibility. Diallo’s lawyers call the defence’s conduct an unprecedented smear campaign against the victim of a sexual attack.
