Province to pay for three more vaccines

The Ontario Government has expanded the province’s childhood vaccination program and will now provide free of charge three vaccinations parents previously had to pay for.
Starting the week of August 2, the province will provide for free the Rotavirus vaccine, which protects against a severe intestinal infection, a second dose of the Chicken Pox vaccine, and a new combined Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Chicken Pox vaccine.
A lifetime dose of the Pertussis vaccine will also be available to adults between the ages of 19-64 to help in preventing Whooping Cough from being spread to young infants before they’re fully immune.
The province’s vaccination program now immunizes against 17 preventable diseases.
