Certain mussels recalled because they may contain the biotoxin Diarrhetic Shellfish Poisoning

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning the public not to eat certain mussels that may contain the biotoxin Diarrhetic Shellfish Poisoning.
The affected mussels were harvested in BC by Island Sea Farms and sold in several provinces under the brand names Saltspring Island, Albion Fisheries, Pacific Rim Shellfish, Albion, and B & C Food.
Consumers who bought raw mussels between July 19th and August 6th, should check with their retailer to determine if they have product covered by the recall.
Health Canada says it’s investigating reports of some illnesses associated with the mussels.
Food contaminated with DSP can cause diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps and chills.
