Plans for the return of the CFL to Ottawa will be on hold for an extra year, according to city documents released on Thursday.
They point to the legal challenge by the Friends of Lansdowne for the delay in refurbishing the stadium and construction of the retail and residential components.
The move of the horticulture building has thrown a wrench in the timeline to complete the project and the delays are furrowing eyebrows at City Hall.
Councillor Bob Monette is concerned that patience may just run out.
“They’ve worked very hard at this and eventually they might say – well […] if we’re going to be continuously delayed maybe it’s time that we called it quits.”
The work on the stadium was slated to begin in June 2013, but now digging won’t start until December and the stadium won’t be ready until June 2014.
The entire redevelopment is scheduled to be fully complete by the summer of 2015.
