Visitation for Alexandria fire victims

A visitation is being held Thursday evening for the four family members who were killed in a house fire in Alexandria.

Sarah Cholette died in the blaze along with her son Jacob and her daughter Chloe. Her other son Maxime succumbed to his injuries on Monday.

The first visitation had been between 2:00-4:00pm with the second between 7:00-9:00pm at the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes.

The Giant Tiger in the small town has collected about $2,000 for the family, although everyone in the community is struggling to come to terms with what’s happened.

“A lot of people are upset about it. It’s young children and a young family so it’s hard to understand,” Manager Sylvie St-Onge tells 1310News.

If you want to give money to the family of the victims you can buy a gift card at any Giant Tiger in the city and ask the manager to send it to the Alexandria location. It will then be converted into cash.

The family is also asking that memorial donations go to CHEO.

The father, Martin Desjardins, underwent surgery Wednesday at a Toronto Hospital and is still in a coma.

The funeral for the four family members will be held Friday morning at 11:00am at Église Sacré-Coeur.
