Canadians want crack-down on panhandlers

Close to half of Canadians recently surveyed by Leger marketing want harder crack downs on Panhandlers.

Here in the capital – a by-law only bans aggressive panhandling – begging is not against the law.

Ottawa had taken steps to alleviate the number of people asking for spare change, by placing kindness meters in the Byward Market.

Money deposited in the meters goes to help the  homeless.
