Fire closes Broadview Public School

The Broadview Public School is closed Monday, after a fire on Sunday damaged part of the building.

The blaze began in the afternoon in a couch that was on the roof of an attached room behind the school.

Marc Messier of Ottawa Fire says that crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly.

Fire Damage was contained to the exterior of the building, but there was smoke damage inside two to three classrooms as well as some light smoke throughout the school.

The Ottawa Carleton District School Board said they hope to have classes resume on Tuesday.

The fire is under investigation.
