Dix open to joint statement with Clark on RCMP contract

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – NDP Leader Adrian Dix says it’s time for BC to speak with one voice on the future of the RCMP in our province. He made the comments after his first speech as the leader of his party to the Union of BC Municipalities.
Dix thinks BC needs to have a better counter-offer to Ottawa’s ‘one-size fits all’ agreement, and the feds may be view this province with less credibility if we don’t have an alternative.
“If the BC Liberals are acting in BC’s interests on this question and negotiating a better deal for BC, I’m for that,” he says.
Since Dix speaks of unanimity on the issue, News1130 asked him we can expect a joint statement from him and the premier. “No problem,” he responds.
“Although they’re not as interested in joint statements, I don’t think” he adds. “But I would be fine with that.”
Some local mayors hope the Premier Christy Clark addresses the RCMP contract impasse in her speech to at UBCM convention tomorrow morning.
