Alison Redford is Alberta’s next premier

Alison Redford has won the Alberta Progressive Conservative leadership race.
In a very close contest, Redford edged out the front runner, Gary Mar by around 2,000 votes.
Redford was the justice minister in Ed Stelmach’s government and will be the first woman to become Alberta’s premier.
Former Deputy Premier Doug Horner finished third in the race.
The contest was not decided until the wee hours of Sunday morning.
Alison Redford spent the last days of the campaign grieving the sudden death of her mother.
