CFIA expands alert for certain Kimchi products

OTTAWA – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has expanded the warning it issued on Oct. 5 for certain Kimchi products.
It’s warning people with allergies to fish, shrimp and sesame not to consume Mat Kimchi in 300 and 400 gram packages, with the UPC code 8 08248 14422 3.
Chonggak Kimchi in 2.5 kilogram packages with the UPC code 8 08248 14426 1, and Old Fermented Kimchi in 500 gram packs with the UPC code 8 801024 110155 are also covered by the alert.
The products have been distributed nationally and contain allergens which are not declared on the label.
They could cause a serious or even life-threatening reaction in people with allergies to fish, shrimp or sesame.
There’ve been no reported illnesses associated with the products, which have been recalled across the country.
