Two children killed in fire in Lytton

LYTTON (NEWS1130) – A tragedy in the Fraser Canyon overnight; two young children died after a motorhome caught fire outside Lytton.
Corporal Dan Moskaluk with the RCMP says a four-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl died in hospital. “I don’t have the full information as to the exact injuries involved to all parties.”
“The Lytton RCMP along with the BC Coroner’s Service and the Office of the Fire Commissioner are currently examining the fire scene in efforts to determine the cause of the fire as well as the cause of death of the two young children.”
Moskaluk tells us an older couple had parked the vehicle near a decommissioned air strip:
“The couple was camped at the location as part of a road work crew that had recently set up in the area. The couple had the woman’s grandchildren with them while her common-law husband was to begin managing and working on the road project.”
The kids’ grandmother and her partner remain in hospital in Kamloops.
Victims Services has been called in to support the parents, who are believed to be from the Lower Mainland and the Armstrong area.
