OC Transpo workers accept contract extension

OC Transpo workers have voted in favor of a one-year contract extension.

Gary Queale, President of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 279 tells 1310News workers voted 83% in favour of the offer.

The contract extension gives OC Transpo workers a two percent wage increase and a guarantee that members can conduct the maintenance work on Ottawa’s light rail transit trains.

The union and the city plan to start negotiations on a long-term deal in early December.
