The dirty truth about Ottawa clinic cleanliness

The dirty truth about an Ottawa clinic’s cleanliness was uncovered by the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons this spring, just over a year after it was granted legislative ability to conduct inspections of those non-hospital clinics.

The breach of the inspection led to Ottawa Public Health issuing letters to the patients of the doctor in question.

The out of hospital premises inspection program became reality in April 2010. However, The current health scare in Ottawa dates back a decade and one Ottawa gastroenterologist told 1310News that the regulation was a long time coming.

Dr. Fred Bray said he was surprised when he started his practice ten years ago and found no regulatory standards for inspection, which he then began lobbying for.

Now Ottawa’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Isra Levy said a number of shortfalls were discovered at Dr. Christiane Farazli’s practice.

Mainly that infection protocols were not being followed.

Dr. Farazli has been cooperating with the probe.

Meanwhile, she filed a lawsuit against two Ottawa doctors and the Ottawa hospital for $3.3-million. Her complaint was that they didn’t properly diagnose her back problem.
