Spezza leads Sens to third straight win

Jason Spezza beat Cam Ward between the pads on the second round of the shootout, giving the Ottawa Senators a 3-2 win over Carolina.

Ottawa led 2-0 with five minutes to play before late goals from Tuomo Ruutu and Jeff Skinner sent the game to overtime.

Spezza and Zenon Konopka scored for the Senators in regulation.

The win, Ottawa’s third straight, stops the Senators’ seven-game losing streak in Raleigh.

Cam Ward had 26 saves for the Hurricanes, while Craig Anderson made 32 stops for Ottawa.
