Peace vigil for Tibet

OTTAWA – About 200 protesters chanted and waved Tibetan flags at the Chinese Embassy, protesting the Chinese government’s crackdown in Tibet. Their arrival marks the end of a day-long vigil that started on Parliament Hill at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning.
The protesters want diplomatic intervention from world leaders to support the voice of Tibet.
Organizers say thousands of Buddhist Monks have been arrested or have gone missing in a crackdown against their religion.
A number of Tibetans have recently been setting themselves on fire in an attempt to draw international attention to the problem.
Ahead of the G20 meeting in France, protesters hope the rally will force the Canadian Government to put pressure on China to stop these human rights abuses.
