Preliminary hearing in Cleroux murder case adjourned

OTTAWA, On. — The preliminary hearing of a suspected serial killer has been adjourned because of potential new evidence in the case.
57-year-old Camille Cleroux is charged with three counts of first degree murder in the deaths of three Ottawa women. The body of one woman, his former wife Paula Leclair, was found last June but the bodies of the other women have not been recovered.
The Crown asked for the adjournment in light of potential new evidence in the case but a publication ban prevents the details of that new evidence being released. Cleroux is due back in court on November 30th.
Meanwhile, Ottawa Police have finally vacated the site on Heatherington Road where they had been digging since the grisly discovery of human remains Monday. Neighbours identified the property as the former home of Cleroux. He reportedly lived there at the time his wife Lise Roy disappeared. Police have not confirmed the connection between the remains and Cleroux.
The remains will be sent to The Centre for Forensic Science and Medicine in Toronto which will be handling the examination.
