Occupy Ottawa here to stay, for now

Here in the capital the mayor won’t put a stop to the occupation in Confederation Park which is National Capital Commission land. A spokesperson for Jim Watson says the mayor will leave that decision to the federal government.

And since Ottawa Public Health deemed the local tent city safe it’s likely the occupation will stay on.

People in the capital say Occupy Ottawa should be allowed to continue on so long as they are not harming anyone, adding it is the right of demonstrators to have their say.

But they do agree there is a limit, saying if protesters’ safety was at risk if if they were violent they’d expect to see the tent city get shut down.
