In less than two hours $240 million operations plan gets approved

City Councillors have approved a section of the draft 2012 budget. The transportation committee approved a $240-million operations plan Thursday.
Out of the $2.5 billion city wide operations budget a 2.4 per cent property tax hike and an increase in borrowing cost for infrastructure renewal will also be on the horizon since interest rates are low.
There is talk around the city if Mayor Jim Watson has created a people-pleaser budget, but Kanata North Coun. Marianne Wilkinson said there havn’t been any complaints so far.
Rideau-Goulbourn Coun. Scott Moffatt said there have not been any negative feedback from residents.
It only took the transportation committee less than two hours to approve its budget.
