Ottawa marks Trans Remembrance Day

As the world marks Trans Remembrance Day the Ottawa Police Service will raise a banner at the Elgin Street headquarters to commemorate the international event.

The banner will be raised at 6 Friday and will remain there until Monday, November 21.

Trans Remembrance Day memorializes people killed because of anti-trans hatred or prejudice.

221 people have died because of violence in the last year according to Egale Canada.

Here in Ottawa a candlelight vigil will be held Sunday night at 7:00 at the Human Rights Memorial on Elgin Street.
