NCC hands eviction notices to Occupy protesters

OTTAWA – On the heels of a court ruling evicting Occupy Toronto protesters, the Occupy Ottawa protesters have now been handed eviction notices.

NCC staff were accompanied by Ottawa police when they started handing out the eviction notices around 2:30 Monday afternoon.

Protesters were handed a two-page letter telling them they will have to be out of the park by 11:59 Monday night.

The NCC says this is part of its Trespass to Property Act.  That act forbids camping on NCC property and now, after 37 days, the commission is now deciding to enforce the act.
