OTTAWA, On- Some students are protesting a new ban at their Barrhaven school by wearing tight, form-fitting pants and not covering up.
St Josephs in Barrhaven has told students, stretch pants, yoga pants and form fitting pants are not appropriate unless a shirt covers the backside.
The Ottawa Catholic School Board says, “this is a long standing dress code, and it is up to individual schools to enforce.”
OCSB spokeswoman, Mardi de Kemp added, “there was a regular school announcement reminding parents about the school’s dress code, especially as it applies to tight clothing.”
Protesting students do risk being sent home until a proper clothing choice is made.
The yoga pants flap comes in the same week as a Catholic board in Durham, east of Toronto considered banning kilts, after complaints girls were wearing them too short.
