Snow causes havoc for Ottawa drivers

OTTAWA- Falling temperatures and precipitation caused havoc on the city’s roads Friday night.

Ottawa paramedics report at least ten 9-1-1 calls from 8:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M.

Firefighters had to put the Jaws of Life to work more than once as well.

First at Baseline Road and Rockway Crescent where a car hit a concrete street light. The 26-year-old female driver is in stable condition suffering head lacerations. Her 22-year-old male passenger was extricated from the vehicle, he suffered a fractured pelvis and is listed in serious condition in hospital.

Elsewhere, a head-on collision near Bank & Leitrim. A 24-year-old man had to be extricated by Ottawa Fire and had many open fractures to his lower extremity. Paramedics treated him with intravenous fluids and intravenous pain medications. No other injuries at that collision.

Ottawa Police want to remind people once again to drive according to the conditions. Slow down and stay focused.
