Lotto Max winners spending despite review

OTTAWA – An Ottawa-area couple who have the winning ticket for a $50-million Lotto Max draw may be putting the cart before the horse.

The CBC says Joanne and Gaetan Champagne, whose winnings are under a review because they used to own a convenience store, are already spending like they are millionaires.

The couple recently bought an $80,000 Lincoln Continental and put a $900,000 down payment on a 13-bedroom mansion with a waterfront view.

The couple has already passed two hurdles in the review process but still have to wait more than two weeks before they find out “officially” if they will get their cheque.
