Suspected arson at Lansdowne Park

Ottawa Fire were called to Lansdowne Park just before 10 p.m. Thursday after a 9-1-1 call alerted them to billowing smoke coming from the old north side stands.
When Firefighters arrived on scene, the alarms were sounding and they confirmed a fire at one of the kiosks.
They quickly evacuated approximately thirty people from the building and were able to extinguish the blaze within fifteen minutes.
Gerald O’Keefe of Ottawa fire told 1310News the main arena is fine.
“There was some smoke that got into the main arena area, but we’re using the ventilation system of the arena itself and it’s evacuating very well. We used our positive pressure fans to evacuate the rest of the stadium structure and everything”.
O’Keefe also said the fire was suspicious.
“We believe it was a malicious fire, but its under investigation now by Ottawa Police”.
The small fire caused minor damage to a wood palette and two vending machines.
There were no injuries and damages have not yet been estimated.
