Treasury Board issues silence memo

Chief financial officers of federal departments have been issued a memo from the Treasury Board calling for silence on specific details of expected cuts in the upcoming Federal budget.
They have been directed to release their annual reports to Parliament in May without the details of the government’s spending review.
“That’s absurd” Larry Rousseau tells 1310News.
The exeuctive vice president of the National Capital chapter of PSAC says it shows a lack of transparency in particular for Parliamentary budget officer, Kevin Page.
“How can he report to Parliament on the budgetary process. This is a person who is supposed to be objective in reporting to Parliament on what the implications of the budget cuts are going to be”.
