Montreal man dead after couch surfing stunt

MONTREAL – A 22-year-old Quebec man is dead after engaging in a highly dangerous stunt.
The victim and some friends put a couch on a sleigh, then hitch the sleigh to a van and go for a ride along a country road.
But the couch suddenly swerved into oncoming traffic in the weekend mishap, and the unidentified young man was struck by an oncoming car.
No one else was hurt in the accident about 325 kilometres east of Montreal.
Reports say the 21-year-old man who was driving the van fled the scene, but police eventually found him and placed him under arrest.
He faces charges of dangerous driving causing death, and leaving the scene of an accident.
