Crackdown lands six in jail and seizes guns, cash and drugs

OTTAWA – A major crackdown over the weekend by the Ottawa Police Guns and Gangs unit has seized over $100,000 worth of drugs and money, along with several guns and accessories.

Six men are behind bars and police are still looking for one more man and two women, as a part of Project Ace.  Police raided six Ottawa area homes and two in Gatineau seizing a more than $63,000 worth of drugs such as crack cocaine, powder cocaine, meth and OxyContin.  Over $40,000 in cash was also seized.

People can breathe a little easier knowing they also removed two 9-mm handguns and three .32 calibre handguns along with ammunition and a bullet proof vest. 

The guns seized were to shootings dating back to December 11th.  Investigators said one of the suspects they were looking for was arrested in relation to the drive-by shooting on Lavergne St. in Vanier, Sunday.

Four Gatineau residents were arrested during the raids according to the Ottawa Citizen.

They are:

Adnan Fazeli, 26.

Christian Thibault, 28.

Mathieu Thibault, 20.

Phillipe Eisele, 24.

Police Arrested Mohamed Mohamed, 27 of Ottawa

Abraham Bihi, 22 of Ottawa.

Police are still on the hunt for three Ottawa residents:

Saed Shiekhdoon, 22.

Cheryl Metcalfe, 25.

Ashley Windebank, 24.
