About 60 people took to Parliament Hill on Sunday afternoon to protest the misleading robo-calls made in the last federal election.
At the rally demonstrators discussed the scandal and many said there needs to be a public inquiry.
The rally had a diverse crowd, with lots of former Occupiers and a number of older votes.
While they disagreed about how the scandal should be addressed, they all said they were disgusted that some voters were tricked.
“I’m just very concerned about the way the current government is taking us and just trying to bully us into submission basically,” said Carol Scott.
Other people at the rally said the Canadian government needs to get citizens more involved.
“I want to get people at the table to talk,” said demonstrator Matthew McCullough.
An organizer who goes by the name of Tigerlily said Canada’s democracy needs to be saved.
“Politicians need to start paying attention to what their constituents are saying,” she said.
Protesters said it was a small turnout today but they’ll be back at noon next Sunday.
The robo-call scandal broke after it was revealed that Elections Canada was investigating an incident in Guelph, Ont.
Voters were called on the phone and told to go to polls that didn’t exist during last spring’s federal election.
