Strandherd-Armstrong bridge completion date in question

OTTAWA – Motorists looking forward to the completion of the Strandherd-Armstrong Bridge, linking Riverside South to Barrhaven, may have to wait a few months longer.

The company contracted to build the bridge has gone into receivership, with construction about 60 per cent finished.

Ottawa councillor Jan Harder tells 1310News all is not lost.

“We have certainly have insurance and that sort of thing on the project.  I’m very confident the banks will step in and make sure this project gets done.  Unfortunately it may delay it by a number of months,” Harder said.

The bridge, whenever it is complete is expected to take some pressure of West Hunt Club and Bridge Street in Manotick.
