The Ontario Provincial Police is pleading with drivers to stay safe this weekend by driving with care.
Roads are going to be busy with people travelling for Easter, so they’re asking drivers to put down the phones, buckle up and stay alert.
New statistics released show fewer highway fatalities in the province in 2011 compared with 2010, with 285 people dying compared to 328 in 2010 — that’s a 13 per cent drop.
The OPP laid over 610,000 charges on roads, waterways and trails last year, slightly less than the previous year.
